Arthur E. Palmer's major areas of practice are employment law, real estate and business litigation. He is an active mediator and arbitrator.
He graduated from Washburn University School of Law in 1963 and was an Assistant Attorney General of Kansas until joining the law firm in 1964.
Mr. Palmer was managing partner of Goodell, Stratton, Edmonds & Palmer L.L.P. for 20 years. He has taught labor law and appellate practice classes at Washburn University School of Law. He is a member of the Kansas Bar Association and has served as president of the Employment Law Section. He is past president of the Topeka Bar Association and has served as secretary and as a member of the Ethics and Grievance Committee for that organization.
He is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Judicature Society, the Kansas Association of Defense Counsel, the Defense Research Institute and the Kansas Association of Hospital Attorneys. He is a member of the Kansas Board for Discipline of Attorneys, serving as chairman of that Board from 1990-1996.
He is a past president of the Capital Civitan Club, Downtown Topeka, Inc. and the Kansas Bar Foundation. He is listed in the Employment Law Section of Best Lawyers in America and is a Fellow of the American Bar Association.
In April 2005, Mr. Palmer received the Warren W. Shaw Distinguished Service Award from the Topeka Bar Association. The award recognizes a lawyer or judge for exemplary service to the legal profession or to the Topeka Bar Association.
